During our September Think Tank, Dr. Fred said something profound that has us excited for the upcoming October Think Tank titled Walking the Field: Are You a Leader Who Controls or a Leader Who Connects? He stated, "Power is not authority. Power is influence. Influence is the gift of followers who buy into your system, theme, and philosophy. Leadership is all about relationships and how you treat people."
Dr. Fred revealed the qualities that contribute to effective leadership. Authority is earned, not demanded. Control may compel compliance, but connection fosters influence. Influence, in turn, is the trust your team grants when they willingly follow, not out of obligation but belief in your vision and values.
Leadership grounded in connection allows you to build relationships and create an environment of respect and trust, rather than simply wielding power. It’s the difference between having followers because you can control them, and having them because they choose to follow.
We’re excited for Dr. Fred to lead us through more on the topic of connection over control. Join us October 11, online or in person at 7:45AM. You can reserve your seat here.
